Well if you don't know now you do know that Toshiba has finally gotten around to release the ICS 4.0.4 for our Thrive 10.1" tablets.
But best to backup your files and sent them to a cloud or a zip drive. Cloud is easier to do. Software app needed is called:
SD Card Storage Optimizer (free)
Once ICS 4.0.4 installed, you should do a factory reset too remove all prior junk coding. Because they push the update through the current HC.
Anyway Memory Consumption is better but not 100% yet because the way Android manages the memory. You can download off Play an app called:
Android Status (free)
That pretty much sums it up.
Thrive is 1.5GHz (max) Dual Core runs at 1GHz (1008MHz) 500MHz x 2 Cores
Excite is 1.3GHz Excite Quad Core runs at 1GHz (1008MHz) 250MHz x 4 Cores
They do this because to save on the battery if they did it at full speed then that battery won't last as long.
1GB of RAM (814MB) Free could range from 300MB to 740MB
2GB of RAM (1.6GB) Free could range from 500MB to 1000MB
Best app free that can keep memory free is called:
Android Assistant Cache Cleaner
Really don't want to run a bunch of apps doing the same thing on these tablet. Just wasting resources you need.
Since these tablets are not rooted you might want to root them or not. Optional.
Also one issue right now is after you install ICS there is a vibrate effect now when you touch type. This can be turned off under the Keyboard and Sound options.
